Names in the family are Greer, Harmon, Greer, Edler, Rentz, Steiger, Allen and Hart. I have created a small page on the genealogy of my family which at this time goes back to the Civil War and also back to Germany, 1805. I am hoping that more will be added to the family tree as I find out more information. It is my hope that this page will inspire others to search and discover thier family. GREER FAMILY:as pertains to Winter and Allen families: Greer?Shot in leg during Civil War-died shortly after returning home. Resided on a farm near Cogan Station in Pennsylvania. Married Maggaret,had a son named James Greer and a grand daughter named Annie Margaret Greer Winter. Greer, James-Born in Perryville,PA,died in 1921. Was a steel worker, had a brother named Bill? Married Mary? Had a daughter named Annie Margaret. Grier?, Robert- Cobbler- had his own shoe shop near his home, 2 story building a little ways from his house. Grier, Mary E. EDLER-Born April 14?, died June 14, 1934, was a housewife. Mother was Margaret HARMON, father was David Edler, married James Grier, daughter Annie Margaret Greer Winter and grand daughter Mary Irene Winter Allen. Greer, Annie Margaret- Born 1866 near Williamsport, PA, died Ocotber 16, 1932 (of a tumor)in Williamsport. She was a housewife. Married Frederick Winter. Harmon, Margaret-Could not read or write, got a copy book? and learned so she could write to her husband.Children's names Mary, Lucrechia, Lucinda, Sally, Ann, Minnie, Lily, George, Frank, Hiram and Elmer. Resided ona farm near Cogan Station, PA. Married David Edler (who was shot in the Civil War). Winter, Christian- Born in Germany? Was a carpet maker. Married Rosa. Edler, David-Was a cabinet maker. Parents of Margaret who married Greer. He was a soldier in the Civil War, took another man's place for 100.00. David EDLER'S father was Jacob Edler from Stuttgart, Wurttemberg, Germany. Jacob Edler married Anna Maria RENTZ. Anna Maria's parents were Jacob Rentz and Frederika Steiger. The family came to America via Amsterdam on the ship "Fair American" in 1805. Also:Mary HEIM/HAIM married Johannes Rentz, 1850. Heim/Haim were supposedly from Germany.

He was the son of Christian and Rosa? Winter, Rose-Sister of Frederick, daughter of Christian. Winter, Mary-Daughter of Christian, sister of Frederick. Winter, Amelia- daughter of Christian. Winter, John-son of Christian. Winter, George-son of Christian. Winter,?-son of Christian. Died and left money to Mary and William. Winter, Mary Irene- Born March 26, 1892 in Newberry, PA. Resided in Newberry, 1892-1920. Daughter of Frederick Winter and Annie Greer. Housewife. Winter, Lewis Frederick-Born November 19, 1894 in Newberry, PA. Died of cancer in Sheogan Falls, PA? Was a butcher. Brother of Mary Irene. Son of Frederick and Annie. Winter, Minnie Maretta- Born Feb 14, 1896. Married William Haire. Daughter of Frederick and Annie.
Winter, Edward Leslie- Born Nov 9, 1893 in Newberry, PA. Died in 1978 of diabetes. Resided in Williamsport, PA. Son of Frederick and Annie. Married Ester? Had four children, 3 boys and a girl. (Ken?)
Winter, Eugene Charles? Born Dec.30, 1902 in Newberry, PA. Died in 1977 of cancer in Williamsport, PA. Was a deisel engineer. Son of Frederick and Annie. Married Margie? Had one son, Eugene Jr.
Winter, Nina Margaret- Born August 21, 1904. Had alzheimer's. Daughter of Frederick and Annie. Married Kenneth Gamble had three childre, Clark, Eric, Lois(nurse in ME).

Allen, William Love (brother to Almeda and a disowned brother John)-Born in Addison or Dansville, NY. Died in 1958 in Westfield, PA. Married Flora Newell (children Bessie Arwine Hill-died 1987 and Harold Arwine, also married Mary Winter. Allen, Chet (possibly brother to William and Almeda Allen)born? Had a son Harry. Harry had a dughter Loretta who married George Bennett in Ulyses, PA. Allen, Bessie-died in Jasper, NY. Daughter of Flora and William Allen. Married Frank Arwine and Frank Hill.
Allen, Isma May- Born 1912. Daughter of Mary Winter and William Love Allen. Married Arthur H. Hart. Daughter Sarah Ann (Sally), Isma also married Peter Chamberlain. They had children, David, Dick and Pattie. Allen, Frederick William-Born 1914. Son of William Allen and Mary Winter. Married Margaret Helen? Bonady and Doris? Allen, Lewis Howard-Born July 25, 1923-Son of Mary Winter and William Allen. Married Bernice Ray (children Nancy Dudney, Susan Cecce, Renee Richard and Lewis Scott). Allen, Lois Margaret(died Dec.23,1979)-Daughter of William Allen and Mary Winter. Married John Francis(children John, Joanne, Mary). Allen, Edward Eugene-Son of William Allen and Mary Winter. Married Alice Maine (children John, Cookie and Eugene)Died? Allen, Ann Elizabeth- Born 1927, daughter of William Allen and Mary Winter. married John Dean. (children John, William, Robert). Married James Leandri,daughter Mary Ann. Mary Ann's daughters: Jamie and Jeri. Hart, Arthur H. from Germany? Had two sisters who lived in Marblehead, Mass. Married Isma May Sept 22, 1932, Whitesville, NY. He was born abt. 1881. Hart, Sarah Ann (Sally), Isma May Allen Hart's daughter Born March 6th)-children, Francine, Leann, Cynthia,Holli, Misty, Shannyn, and Allan.
